How It All Began
From a bus ride during a Geneva winter to a beach walk in Barcelona — here's how it happened.
A Spark on the Bus
The world was in the midst of Covid. Geneva was quiet, the winter was bitterly cold, and Procter & Gamble welcomed its new interns to the Geneva office lobby to hand them their computers. After barely thirty minutes, all interns had their laptops and were sent on their way, boarding the bus back to their respective lodgings, following the Covid rules of the day.
During that bus ride home, Annamaria's and Georges' eyes met for the very first time. A small introduction followed. Georges was immediately intrigued, and couldn't help but think, in Italian: "Mama mia, is this what all the ladies in Geneva look like?" Turned out, no — there is only one Annie in the world, and a spark was lit.
Movie Night
Over the following weeks and months, that spark slowly grew — through Covid friendly house parties, ski days, long walks and conversations with a coffee. Then, in April, Georges finally gathered the courage to make a seemingly innocent suggestion: "Shall we have a movie night?" Annamaria replied, "Surely — who else shall we invite?" "Nobody," said Georges. The first kiss followed that same night.
Home, Eventually
From that moment, what had started as a spark began to turn into something deeper. Throughout May and June, as their relationship blossomed and their internships slowly came to an end, they were faced with their first real challenge: Georges would remain in Geneva, and Annamaria would return to Milan to finish her Master's degree.
Luckily, after 18 months of FlixBuses, late trains and countless Sunday travelling nights, Annamaria found a job in Geneva. She'd planned to stay with Georges for only a couple of months while getting her own studio — life decided differently, and both soon realised that living together was the easiest thing they'd ever done. They lived in Georges' tiny apartment for two years before finally finding a home that suited them both. A tiny apartment, the setting of a big bond.
The Proposal
On a beautiful spring evening in Barcelona — Annamaria's birthplace, and the destination of their first trip as a couple — Georges and Annamaria went for an evening beach walk. The rest is history. And the future is theirs to unfold.
